【xem phim heo dam】Author to Discuss Hiroshige Influences

Painter Barbara Thomason will discuss her new collection “100 Not So Famous Views of L.A.” on xem phim heo damSaturday, Jan. 17, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Little Tokyo Branch Library, 203 S. Los Angeles St., Little Tokyo.

100 not so famous views of l.a.“100 Not So Famous Views of L.A.” draws directly from the works of 19th-century Japanese printmaker Utagawa Hiroshige. Thomason will lecture and present images that reference Hiroshige’s importance to her work with an in-depth discussion of the ukiyo-e genre; its style, composition and subject matter.

The author’s books will be available for purchase. The talk is jointly sponsored by the Little Tokyo Branch Library and Kinokuniya Bookstore.

Thomason is a native of Southern California and lives in Los Angeles. She received a master’s degree in printmaking from CSU Long Beach. After graduation she worked as a master printer in lithography at Gemini G.E.L., where she printed for Robert Rauschenberg, Claus Oldenberg, Jasper Johns, Frank Stella, Ed Ruscha, Ellsworh Kelly and many others. She currently teaches printmaking, sculpture and painting at California Polytechnic University at Pomona.

Thomason’s perspective is contextualized by her own personal experience of creating a unique body of work that is both a tribute to the master and a completely modern series that stands on its own as a refreshing look at our city.

Parking is available in the Paragon Parking Lot, south of the library. The library will validate at the information desk for free 90-minute parking.
