George Takei, who played helmsman Hikaru Sulu on the original “Star Trek,” celebrated the 50th anniversary of the show’s premiere by going on a zero-gravity flight on Aug. 17, joined by his husband, Brad Takei, Rod Roddenberry, CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment and son of “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry, and some lucky fans. Zero Gravity (Zero-G) provided the flight in partnership with Roddenberry Adventures. As Zero-G planes repeatedly descend from 32,000 feet to 24,000 feet, passengers experience 20 to 30 seconds of weightlessness.
