“Stations of the Cross: A Meditative Art Installation” is a first-ever presentation that features “shadow art,” hand-cut paper images projected with light, and is designed by renowned artist Leslie Kitashima Gray specifically for Centenary’s sanctuary. It consists of seven scenes based on the final week of the life of Jesus. The seventh and final scene will be ready for viewing on Easter morning.

“As an artist,” says Gray, “I feel it is sort of my job to inspire people to inspect our mutual human experience.” Although she is raised in the United Methodist Church, Gray has designed the work to appeal to persons from religious and non-religious traditions.

Public viewing dates and times for “Stations of the Cross” will be as follows:

Friday, April 3 (Good Friday), 12 noon-9 p.m.
Saturday, April 4 (Holy Saturday), 12 noon-6 p.m.
Sunday, April 5 (Easter), 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (worship services at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.)

“Stations of the Cross” will be up through May 2. Additional viewings are being scheduled and will be announced.
