CARSON — An opening reception for “Koko’s Neighborhood,” a new video exhibit by multidisciplinary artist Yoshie Sakai, was held Feb. 2 at CSU Dominguez Hill’s University Art Gallery. On view through March 24, this is the fourth installment of her ongoing video project “Koko’s Love,” which explores the everyday fears and joys of living through the over-the-top tropes of the Asian soap opera. The members of the dysfunctional Sakimoto family are all played by Sakai. Through the Gardena-based artist’s Praxis Residency at CSUDH, Sakai collaborated with students who served as consultants and actors to create a new chapter in the story. The exhibit is free and open to the public Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by appointment. Added hours: Friday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, March 16, from 12:30 to 5 p.m.; Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 22-24, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
