“Miss Hokusai” is screening in more than 85 theaters in the U.S. — including Boston, Chicago, St. Louis, Portland, San Francisco, Dallas and Austin —?starting Friday, Oct. 21, after opening in one theater each in Los Angeles and New York on Oct. 14.

From award-winning director Keiichi Hara (“Colorful”) and Japanese powerhouse Production I.G (creators of “Ghost in the Shell”) comes a remarkable story of the daughter behind one of history’s most famous artists, based on the manga “Sarusuberi” by Hinako Sugiura.
