GARDENA — What do I wear to an interview? An internship? A job? A formal presentation? How do I tie a tie? What heel height is appropriate? Can I wear black shoes with a blue suit?

Fashion expert Francis Kenneth will offer tips on dressing for that next job interview at Gardena Valley JCI on April 18. (franciskenneth.com)

If you’re interested in the answers to these and other questions about professional attire, come to Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute’s “Dress for Success” event on Saturday, April 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the GVJCI Hall and learn from fashion experts about how to dress for success while maintaining your own style.

Speakers include blogger and Instagram famous fashionistas: Michelle Forstadt of Catchingcouture.com (look her up on Instagram @catchingcouture), Francis Kenneth of FrancisKenneth.com (@franciskenneth on Instagram), and Priscilla Nguyen (@findingpris on Instagram). They will be giving you some secrets and tips on keeping a fresh and unique style in the professional work place.

In addition to these speakers, there will be booths and mini-workshops on makeup, accessories and hair styles.

Ashley Tani will be showing some great makeup tips and will also be doing free lash extension applications. Yukiko Sato will have makeup palettes and tips that you can try on. Ted Hirahara will be showing great men’s haircuts and styles.

Register online at jci-gardena.org under “Youth” and “Pathways to Professions” for only $10 by April 16. For more information, email Michelle Yamashiro at [email protected] or call (310) 324-6611. Check out the Facebook event page at facebook.com/gvjci.
